Anythink hosts The Kitchen Table

Beginning Nov. 19, community members are invited to take a seat at The Kitchen Table, a multi-sensory experience at Anythink Wright Farms that celebrates the universal nostalgia of one of the most common family gathering places. On display through Dec. 14, The Kitchen Table is a transformed space designed to inspire meaningful connections. In addition to the nostalgic décor that serve as conversation pieces, the space also includes prompts to facilitate one-on-one storytelling, as well as other more subtle opportunities for connection through activities like games and puzzles.

The Kitchen Table also includes a community photography exhibition, currently on display at Anythink Wright Farms, which includes photos depicting life at the kitchen table. The display captures life moments from meals and holidays to board games and homework, featuring a variety of eras and perspectives. Photos were submitted by community members after an open call for submissions and curated by Anythink staff.

In conjunction with this experience, Anythink is hosting opportunities for friends and family members to connect through recorded conversations. These dialogues will be provided to participants as audio file keepsakes, and excerpts will be made into a podcast series with the help of partner Denver Open Media. A list of available recording opportunities is below.

“The Kitchen Table is yet another example of how Anythink helps to bring people together,” says Stacie Ledden, Anythink director of innovations and brand strategy. “Just the thought of this iconic symbol – the kitchen table – evokes so many emotions and memories for all generations. It’s the place where people gather, where they connect with their friends and families, where people have laughed, cried, and celebrated throughout history. Because of this, it’s the perfect inspiration for intergenerational storytelling here at the library.”

The Kitchen Table joins other previous participatory and artistic experiences hosted by Anythink, including Camp Happiness, Get to Know Your Neighbor, museum exhibitions, community art openings and public art.
