Watch live: David Shannon visits Anythink to read "Duck on a Bike" as part of One Book 4 Colorado
Anythink is excited to host David Shannon, author and illustrator of this year’s One Book 4 Colorado selection, on Thursday, May 9 for an interactive story time at Anythink Wright Farms. Children, caregivers and educators are invited to attend this special reading, complete with crafts, refreshments and a Q&A with the author. The event, scheduled to take place from 10:30 am to 12 pm, will also stream live on this page.
The story time will include several readings by Shannon as well as songs, finger plays and activities for preschoolers. While participants at the event enjoy crafts and refreshments, live stream viewers are treated to a Q&A with the author. Have a question for David Shannon? Comment on this blog post or submit your question via Twitter to @ilovemyanythink.
Children watching remotely are encouraged to participate in the same “Rocking Duck” craft happening at the branch. A program sheet that includes a list of materials and instructions for making their own rocking duck is available for download here.
The live stream will also be archived here through Children’s Book Week, May 13-19, 2013. Caregivers can pick up a copy of Duck on a Bike for their 4 year old – in either English or Spanish – at all Anythink locations.
One Book 4 Colorado aims to promote early literacy by providing all Colorado 4 year olds with a selected book. Books can be picked up at all Anythink locations, as well as public libraries across the state of Colorado. The yearly project is a collaboration between Colorado Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia’s office, Reach Out and Read Colorado, Colorado State Library, the Denver Preschool Program, public libraries, the private sector and nonprofit and foundation communities.
David Shannon's live reading at Anythink Wright Farms is now archived below. Please allow a couple of moments to load. Enjoy!
