Civic Saturday
About Civic Saturday
Civic Saturday is a gathering of community members designed to encourage the practice of powerful, responsible citizenship. At Civic Saturday, we sing together, open our hearts with poetry, and discuss important civic ideas – all with spirit and joy. Meet your neighbors, participate in small group conversations, and be inspired by talks from Anythink staff and local leaders. Originally created by Citizen University in Seattle, Civic Saturday is now hosted in dozens of cities across the country.
“Civic Saturday is a gathering for people who believe that showing up and working together will strengthen our democracy,” says Eric Liu, Citizen University founder. “We connect as neighbors and strangers, we reflect on the moral challenges of our times, and we develop habits of being responsible for each other. Bringing yourself fully into community is a practice, and Civic Saturday is where you can renew and restore that practice.”
