As part of its Renew community wellness experience, Anythink will host an evening with award-winning chef and author Kwame Onwuachi at Anythink Wright Farms in Thornton, Colo. On Saturday, Nov. 6 from 6-8 pm, Onwuachi will lead a cooking demonstration as he shares stories of resilience from his memoir, “Notes From a Young Black Chef.” The demonstration will be followed by a Q&A session with attendees and a book signing. Copies of Onwuachi’s book are available free to attendees while supplies last.

Born in Long Island, N.Y., Onwuachi is a former “Top Chef” contestant and owner of the Philly Wing Fry franchise in Washington, D.C. In 2019, he received the James Beard Foundation’s Rising Star award while executive chef at the Afro-Caribbean restaurant Kith/Kin, also located in D.C. Raised in New York City, Nigeria and Louisiana, Onwuachi was first exposed to cooking by his mother, and is influenced by many cuisines. From toiling in the bowels of oil cleanup ships to working at some of the best restaurants in the world, he has seen and lived his fair share of diversity. Onwuachi trained at the Culinary Institute of America and has opened five restaurants before the age of 30. He was named one of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs and a “30 Under 30” honoree by both Zagat and Forbes.

“We are excited to host Kwame Onwuachi here at Anythink as part of our Renew community wellness experience,” says Stacie Ledden, director of strategic partnerships for Anythink. “His story of resilience will inspire attendees at a time when many people are experiencing their own life transitions.”

Onwuachi’s demonstration celebrates food and culture as part of Anythink’s Renew community wellness experience. Anythink customers can register online at anythink.renewmyway.com to set up a profile and focus on individual wellness goals. From Oct. 18 to Nov. 12, participants will log different activities based on those goals, all designed to boost happiness, create calm, sharpen focus, pursue purpose or increase energy. To complement the experience, customers are also invited to attend a variety of programs at their local Anythink. Renew is intended for individuals ages 18 and older.
