Anythink invites residents of all ages to find summer adventures at the library
Anythink’s annual mySummer initiative returns with a wide variety of new summer programming and events for all ages from June 1 through July 31, 2024. The inspiration for this year’s mySummer initiative is, “Your Quest Begins Here.”
New and returning customers are invited to design a summer of fun and learning that fits their own needs and wishes. Wander into an Anythink location to learn a new skill, read inspiring stories and engage in experiences on a self-directed journey. Dare to explore the unknown and embark on adventures all summer long.
Throughout June and July, discover and celebrate quests of all kinds with engaging programs at all Anythink branches, including:
- Immersive, playful story times with live bugs for children ages 2 to 6 in partnership with the Butterfly Pavilion.
- Interactive cooking classes for children and teens with Sticky Fingers Cooking to learn new recipes from all around the world.
- Bilingual music, movement and world rhythms classes for children ages 2 to 6 held in English and Spanish by Uruguayan singer-guitarist Elisa Garcia.
- Creative hat design workshops for teens with local muralist and sculptor Bimmer Torres.
- Vibrant, geometric stained-glass suncatcher workshops for adults with Little Glass Art.
There are over 100 fun programs — many hosted alongside local partners and artists — planned for the mySummer 2024 events calendar.
“We want mySummer programming at Anythink to offer customers of all ages memorable experiences,” says Anythink Director of Customer Experience Suzanne McGowan. “Everyone deserves a carefree and epic summer. We hope this year’s inspiration will inspire Anythinkers to discover and embrace their next quest — big or small, near or far, real or imagined.”
All Anythink locations will celebrate the start of mySummer with kick-off events for the whole family. At these events, customers can sign up for programs, receive their mySummer water bottle and accompanying stickers, meet Anythink staff and enjoy fun summer-themed activities. About mySummer
As an experience library, Anythink introduced mySummer in 2010 as a way for people of all ages — babies, kids, teens, adults — to let curiosity be their guide during the summer months. We encourage everyone to READ books that inspire, to THINK about new topics and questions, and to DO all of the hands-on activities that help them experience the world around us. Programs like mySummer help close opportunity gaps by providing high-quality, hands-on learning experiences to students of all ages and backgrounds.
