Anythink to host grand opening of new library in south Thornton

The community is invited to celebrate the grand opening of Anythink Thornton Community Center on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 2211 Eppinger Blvd., Thornton, CO. This new library branch is located within Thornton's recently built gathering space.

Guests of all ages can enjoy several free experiences including: a self-guided scavenger hunt, exploring the new library and recreation center while searching for clue stations throughout the building. Other activities include a meet-and-greet with the Denver Broncos cheerleaders, breakdancing performances by Bboy Factory, live demonstrations in Anythink’s makerspace, an interactive community art project, and snacks from local vendors.

The Anythink staff, who previously worked at Anythink York Street before its closure in May 2024, are excited to welcome both new and returning customers to the new space.

“The library is central to the community, and I think the partnership with the rec center will benefit everyone. Access to programming will increase, and we expect more foot traffic from the neighborhood.” says Heather McCuistion, Anythink concierge and Bookmobile driver with nearly 20 years at Anythink.

The 8,000-square-foot library features a reading fireplace, quiet study rooms, teen and children's spaces, and a dedicated makerspace. The library's collection includes new books, movies, DVDs, CDs, vinyl and TryIts—Anythink's non-traditional experience items available for checkout.

“I think residents will love the classic Anythink trees in the children’s area, learning new skills in The Studio, and grabbing a book after a workout in the gym,” says Jakob Seelig, the Anythink Thornton Community Center manager. “I'm particularly excited to plan programs in the beautiful outdoor spaces around the building.”

“We’re excited to bring recreation back to the residents in south Thornton. Partnering with Anythink allows us to meet more community needs under one roof, and we hope we’ve designed a beautiful, functional facility for everyone to enjoy.” says Jenny Dowell, Thornton Community Center recreation administrator.
