“Roots/Raíces” exhibition opens at Anythink Commerce City
Beginning Feb. 26, community members can explore the agricultural roots of Latin America with “Roots/Raíces,” an exhibition curated by Museo de las Americas specially for Anythink. This collection of arts and artifacts provides insight into the relationship between humans and the earth, highlighting the ways in which land and agriculture are fundamental to wellbeing. “Roots/Raíces” will be on display at Anythink Commerce City through May 1. Media and the public are invited to join staff from Anythink and Museo de las Americas at an opening reception on Saturday, March 2. The reception will include cultural entertainment, food, children’s programming and more. Details provided below.
“By experiencing ‘Roots/Raíces,’ we hope visitors will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the environment and the role agriculture plays in supporting our community,” says Anythink Director of Innovations and Brand Strategy Stacie Ledden. “We are thrilled to partner with Museo de las Americas to bring this exhibition to Commerce City and Adams County, both of which are rich in agricultural history.”
“Museo de las Americas is passionate about bringing Latin art and culture to the public, which is why we are delighted to collaborate with Anythink to present ‘Roots/Raíces,’ an exhibition which highlights the agricultural background and culture of Latin American people,” says Laura Beacom, curator of collections at Museo de las Americas. “‘Roots/Raíces’ is offered through Museo’s traveling exhibit program, Sin Fronteras (Without Borders).”
“Roots/Raíces” is hosted in conjunction with Dig It, Anythink’s March district-wide initiative that celebrates all things backyard farming and gardening. Through partnerships and programs, Dig It aims to empower individuals to take pride in their passions and environment, while also celebrating Adams County’s established agricultural roots.
