Just in time for the movie premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Rangeview hosts Pottermania! at the Commerce City Branch Library. On Tuesday, July 7, fan-favorite The Whomping Willows and wizard rockers The Remus Lupins take the stage. The producers of the award-winning PotterCast will also be there to inspire some Harry Potter discussion with Pottermania! guests.

 

Starting at 5:30 pm, Harry Potter fans and library customers can listen to music, join in the podcast discussion, hang out with other fans, and get autographs from their favorite wizard rockers. Guests who sign up for a library card are entered to win free movie passes and other great Potter prizes. Band merchandise will also be available to purchase, and there will be Potter books and movies available for checkout.

 

The Whomping Willows focus on the ups and downs of the Potter series from the point of view of the magical tree on the grounds at Hogwarts School. Front man Matt Maggiacomo has used his wit and off-beat sense of humor to develop a clever and hilarious repertoire on three records and tours since 2005.

 

Wizard rock trio The Remus Lupins, led by vocalist and guitarist Alex Carpenter, use their songs to promote the Harry Potter series’ values of love and friendship. The band’s motto is “Fight evil. Read books,” and they’ve been hailed as “What’s Next” by Time magazine and have made several appearances on MTV’s Total Request Live.

 

To round out Rangeview’s Pottermania! event, The-Leaky-Cauldron.org – one of the most popular Harry Potter fan sites on the web – hosts its award-winning PotterCast at the library. The show garners more than 30,000 listeners per week due to its academic discussion in a casual tone that allows listeners to feel like they’re discussing their favorite books with friends. The live PotterCast offers the excitement of the popular podcast with the spontaneity of a live audience.
