Nature Explore Classroom to Debut at Anythink Wright Farms
Sept. 24 Celebration Will Feature Music, Tours and More
On Monday, Sept. 24, community members are invited to celebrate the opening of Anythink’s first Nature Explore Classroom from 6-7:30 pm at Anythink Wright Farms. This beautiful outdoor space will give children a creative outlet to connect with the natural world through activities like climbing, building, performing and exploring. Additionally, the classroom’s natural environment and materials will spark children’s curiosity and imagination while complementing the programs and experiences inside the library.
A special Music and Movement is scheduled outside in the Nature Explore performance area featuring music from Tom Cornwell, whose fun songs about bugs will get children dancing and learning about all kinds of insects.
“After almost two years of fundraising, research and development, we’re excited to see our first Nature Explore Classroom become a reality,” says Anythink Director Pam Sandlian Smith. “We can’t wait to formally introduce this magical space to the community. Watching children of all ages interact with nature is the perfect extension of library learning spaces.”
Funding of the Nature Explore Classroom was made possible through support from Adams County Open Space, the Wright Farms Metropolitan District, the Anythink Foundation and other generous donors in the community.
Nature Explore is a joint program run by the Arbor Day Foundation and the Dimensions Educational Research Foundation. Through direct observation of children in the spaces, the Dimensions Foundation has documented enhanced skill development in many areas, including math, art, science, language and socialization.
In the future, Anythink plans to build Nature Explore classrooms at some of its other libraries in Adams County. To date, more than 130 certified Nature Explore classrooms have been built in North America, with hundreds more sites around the nation seeking certification.
