A year ago, I lost my father. I don’t mean he was misplaced or that he’s wandering about in a hedge maze or anything – he died. It wasn’t a surprise, he’d been sick for a while. But it was terribly sad. Obviously. In the year since, my family and I have grieved his loss and celebrated his life in a number of different ways. I’ve discovered a sort of atomic half-life of influence he had on me, most surprising of which is just how much of a literary impact he made.

There's a chance you might be paying $10 a month – $120 a year – for a music subscription service. But did you know you can also stream for free with your library card and hoopla digital? With this service, you can search through practically any album you can imagine. My experience with hoopla has entailed searching for a random, small artist to be excited for one hit to pop up. Then, a week later, I seek the same artist and find even more options. The digital database grows off of your listening habits.

Traditional nursery rhymes are a fun way to connect the generations, but when you're tired of those, what can you listen to with your kids? There's actually a lot of kids' music coming out that's got a fun, modern sound that appeals to all ages but features kid-appropriate content.
