Therapy dogs provide a safe, non-judgmental audience for kids to practice their reading aloud. Bring a book you have been working on or choose from one of ours. Read to one of our patient furry friends. This program is appropriate for ages 6-12. Reading sessions will be limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please check in at the Children’s Department for a reading time.

Enjoy performances of traditional Irish and Scottish music by Matthew Gurnsey, aka The Kilted Man. Journey into tales of wayward voyages, unrequited love and the vibrant lives of Irish tales. Experience unique sounds from Celtic instruments such as the concertina, bodhrán, bones and mandolin. Performance will start at 1 pm. The Megathon is a one-hour event on April 13, during which thousands of people will play an online game to help answer a key Alzheimer's research question. Anyone can play - no experience necessary. In the game, you look at movies from the brains of mice and try to identify vessels as flowing or stalled. Middle school students, seniors, caregivers and Alzheimer’s patients themselves can play the game.This helps to speed up Alzheimer's disease research at Cornell University. You can join this event at the library as part of Citizen Science Day. You can sign up early at stallcatchers.com and practice or just come in.

Explore and experience various approaches to meditation, including walking, progressive muscle relaxation, focused attention, mantra, guided, including yoga, nidra, chakra, and visualization. Find a way to prepare for and sit in meditation that works for your mind and body. No prior experience or fitness level requirements. Afterwards, capture your findings on a personalized constellation board using a canvas and LED lights.
